Nite White® is an established tooth whitening system that is superior to over-the-counter whitening techniques. It is more effective, better tasting, and can be used while you sleep or during the day.

Nite White is a clear, peppermint cream or wild cherry flavored, viscous gel. It is 10%, 16%, or 22% carbamide peroxide with a neutral pH. Carbamide peroxide has been FDA approved for many years as an oral antiseptic, and is now used for its tooth-whitening capabilities. Nite White utilizes a mild solution which is dispensed to patients by a dentist, but is applied by the patient at home using a comfortabl and inconspicuous tray.

THE NITE WHITE® PROCESS

  1. During your diagnostic visit, your dentist will take impressions of your teeth. These will allow your dentist to make custom gel/holding appliances, called whitening trays.
  2. At your second visit, you will be fitted with the trays. You will also be given the Nite White® gel and specific instructions on how to administer it and how often to wear your trays.
  3. Follow the take-home directions and those of your dentist, continuing to maintain proper oral hygiene through brushing and flossing.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is tooth whitening?
It's actually a bleaching process that lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin. The system uses a mild solution retained in a custom-fitted tray that is worn over your teeth.
What causes tooth discoloration?
There are many causes. The most common include aging, consumption of staining substances (coffee, tea, colas, tobacco), trauma, staining, nerve degeneration, and old restorations. During tooth formation, consumption of tetracycline or excessive fluoride may also cause tooth discoloration.
Who may benefit from tooth whitenlng?
Almost anyone. However, there are some cases where the treatment may not be effective. A dentist may determine viable candidates for the process through a thorough oral examination and diagnosis. The Nite White is ideal for patients who have healthy, unrestored teeth and would like to have a whiter, brighter smile.
Why is the Nite White process unique?
You can whiten your teeth comfortably and effectively, in private, while you sleep or for a few hours during the day.
Is the process safe?
YES! Research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth with carbamide peroxide under the supervision of a dentist is safe for teeth and gums. In fact, many dentists consider this whitening process the safest cosmetic dental procedure available today.
How does it work?
The Nite White gel is placed in a thin bleaching tray that fits over your teeth. As the active ingredient in the gel, carbamide peroxide, is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin and bleaches the colored substances. The structure of the tooth is not changed; only the tooth color is made lighter.
How long does it take?
Results are usually seen after the first night. Maximum results generally occur when the process is continued for 10 to 14 nights.
Are there any side effects?
Some people experience temporary increased tooth sensitivity to cold during the treatment. These symptoms always disappear within 1-3 days after interruption or completion of the treatment. Patients using Nite White EXCEL are less likely to get tooth sensitivity.
How long do the results last?
The teeth will always be lighter than they were. However, some patients may need periodic rewhitening for one or two days every one to two years, especially if they continue to use staining substances like caffeine or tobacco products.

A note of assurance:

Tooth whitening is a well established procedure in cosmetic dentistry. Furthermore, carbamide peroxide, the active ingredient, has been safely used for many years in the treatment of gums and other oral soft tissue.

The whitening process is effective on most discolored teeth. Darker stains, such as those caused by antibiotics, may take longer to respond to treatment. The degree of whiteness will vary from patient to patient, depending on the structure of the teeth, the number of applications, or the duration of time that the system is used.
